Remmen

You will find the laundry in the cellar between Buildings C and D and on the first floor of the Tower.
 
A few of the washing machines and dryers are extra-large so that you can wash sleeping bags, duvets, etc.
 
In order to use the laundry you must:

• You need to download Appwash and create a user profile.

Reservations

• You can reserve machines between 07:00 and 22:00. 
• Machines cannot be reserved between 22:00 and 07:00.
• If you do not use one or more of the machines/times you have reserved, you will be charged a fee of NOK 25.
• No charge will be made for reservations cancelled before their start time. You must cancel at least 1 hour before the reserved time was due to start.
• You can reserve two machines up to two weeks in advance.

All of our residential buildings have electronic letterboxes. Every residential unit has its own letterbox.

You will find your letterbox here:
A and B: Ground floor.
C and D: cellar, corridor connecting C and D.
Buildings 8A and B: on the wall near the bike parking.

The letterboxes are opened with student cards.
You must register your student card with us to get access to your letterbox. This is the only way of opening letterboxes.

NB! When you notify the post office of your change of address, it is important to include your unit number.
You must also always use your unit number when you order things that will arrive as parcels. Remember to change your address in your eBay, Nelly, etc. profile.

In some cases parcels from PostNord are delivered to our office. In this case you will receive a text message to pick it up from here.

Short presses of buttons 1 or 3 will change the angle of the slats.
Long presses of buttons 1 or 3 (5 seconds) will completely raise or lower the blinds in the direction indicated. This can be stopped by pressing button 2.  

The blinds are programmed as follows:

• After 2 minutes of sun, the blinds will lower.
• After 30 minutes without sun, the blinds will retract again.

You will find a panel like this outside every shared unit in Buildings C and D. 
It can only be used if a prealarm sounds. If the alarm sounds accidentally and you cannot stop it, call +47 64 91 31 00 to prevent the emergency services responding.

What to do if a prealarm/fire alarm sounds
Buildings 8A and 8B have normal fire alarms that are not directly connected to the fire service. Therefore, in case of fire, you must call the fire service yourself on: 110

Fire alarms in Nye Remmen are directly connected to the fire service. It’s a good idea to store the fire service’s number on your phone, +47 64 91 31 00, in case of false alarms.

Disconnecting ceiling smoke detectors is strictly forbidden. All of the detectors are interconnected, which means that if you remove one, the connection will break and the alarm will sound.

Smoking inside is not permitted under any circumstances and covering smoke detectors is also prohibited.

All false alarms that result in the emergency services responding will incur a charge of NOK 5,000 from 1 January 2018. This will be charged to the room in which the fire alarm is triggered.

• Do not leave a lit candle unattended
• Avoid making pizza when you probably need to go to bed
• Watch pots and pans when you’re cooking so they don’t boil dry
• Avoid using chargers at night
• DO NOT smoke inside
• Do not leave electric heaters or other electrical equipment unattended when they are on

Assembly point in case of fire
The assembly point is located in the car park next to Building A, see the photo below. 

Pressing the green emergency box on the doors will disable the locking mechanism and prevent the doors from locking automatically.




 

Rubbish/waste
Rubbish must not be stored in the corridors at any time. If you intend to take your rubbish with you when you go out, leave it standing in your room until you actually leave.

We sort residual waste and paper/cardboard. This must be disposed of in the right container.
Glass, metal and other waste must be disposed of at collection points designed for this. The closest to you will be Coop Prix, BRA Veien 55.

Weekly cleaning check

• Weekly cleaning should include:
• Emptying the rubbish (you should of course being doing this regularly)
• Floors
• Kitchen counters and cupboards
• Cookers and hobs
• Kitchen sink and taps
• General tidying of the area
• We recommend that you talk with those you are sharing with and draw up agreed routines. This contributes to a good, clean living environment.
• We don’t check studio apartments or couple’s apartments.

Semester cleaning
Carried out once a semester. In the autumn semester this inspection will be carried out in November and in the spring semester it will be carried out in May (before 17 May).

To do lists will be distributed to each room by SiØ. You are responsible for the tasks assigned to your room.  Feel free to switch tasks internally, although you will still be responsible for the tasks originally assigned to you.
If you are doing work experience or are on holiday, you can send an email to siost@hiof.no to arrange a more suitable date for the inspection.
 
Again: We don’t check studio apartments or couple’s apartments.

Washing equipment
SiØ puts starter packs in shared units. These include:

• Mop handle
• Buckets
• Cloths
• Some soap

Soap and cloths will not be refilled. Tenants are responsible for buying these. The starter packs are meant to get you started when you move in, in August.

If there is no central vacuum cleaning system where you live and you want a vacuum cleaner, you will have to provide this yourself (there are central vacuum cleaner systems in Nye Remmen and Bjølstad 4).

When you move out your entire unit must be cleaned and you must always arrange a time for a cleaning inspection. You can arrange this via siost@hiof.no.

Storing garbage in the hallways is not permitted at any time.
If you plan to take your garbage out on your way out, keep it in your room until you leave.

There is one waste station at Remmen by Building A. There you will find containers for cardboard/paper, glass and metal, and general waste. Food waste should be disposed of in special bags and thrown in the general waste. Food waste bags can be collected free of charge at the reception in the Tower.

If you have electronic waste that no longer works, you can give it to our operations technician, and it will be disposed of properly. Throughout June, there will also be a container for general waste as well as a bin for electronic waste.

Fretex accepts all types of textiles, such as clothes, shoes, bags, belts, towels, curtains, and bed linen. Even worn or damaged textiles can be recycled and used for material recovery, for example for insulation, carpets, cleaning cloths, or redesigned products.

The most important thing you as a private individual can do for the environment is to reduce the amount of waste you produce and ensure that what you throw away is recycled:

• Consider whether you really need to buy something new, whether it can be repaired, or whether you can buy it second-hand. Can it be donated to an organization or similar?

• Do not litter.

• Sort all the waste you dispose of.
